Residential Mental Health Care
In our voluntary self-paced programs individuals in need of psychiatric services transition to more independent living as their mental health stabilizes and they experience personal growth. 24 hour services are provided in forty locations throughout the state of Virginia and programs are designed to meet the needs of specific target populations. Evidence-based practices with personalized trauma-informed care plans are developed for each resident. Once a resident transitions to independent living in the community of their choice, he or she may continue to receive out-patient services from Gateway including psychiatric care.
Licensing, Insurance and Admission Information
Established in 1983 Gateway maintains a history of providing services to individuals with serious mental illness. Programs are licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. Gateway’s staff is credentialed by the Department as well as their independent licensing board.
Many individuals who are admitted to Gateway’s program carry Medicare and Medicaid which can be used for partial reimbursement of professional services. Other residents are self-pay or have assistance through hospital discharge funding. Admission is based on the presence of a diagnosed mental illness and a willingness to work toward independent living.
